This month marks a change in the weather and change in my sewing goals. I had the pleasure of being selected for the Boys in Pajamas tour hosted by Made for Little Gents and Peek-a-Boo Patterns. This was the perfect pattern to get me going on my kiddo’s winter wardrobe and get me psyched for these sewing winter projects.
I was glad we were able to choose our pattern and had a hard time choosing one, but I finally decided on the Happy Buns Britches. I was so glad this pattern has a very cool look to such a simple wearable item. My kiddos in the winter love wearing their light pj’s all day long. Most days in California the weather is a bit chilly but not too cold, so I need pj’s that are not too heavy and this pattern was perfect. I selected two contrasting fabrics from my stash and he loved them!
The project overall took me 90 minutes. I was able to cut and assemble in 15 minutes and cut my fabric in about 20 minutes. My sewing took the rest of the time. I had to adjust the waist as my contrasting fabric was not as stretchy as I assumed and I had to cut the waist a 2nd time and added 2 more inches. I will be making a 2nd one with the fabrics reversed and won’t have to adjust as the camouflaged fabric is much stretchier than the black. I’m sure I can whip up a 2nd in an hour or less next time. I thought the back piece would give me a hard time but it was super easy. I wish all knit projects made me feel this confident a sewist.
I can’t wait to make a few more for my little guy and my daughter who was a bit envious of her brother’s cool pajamas. These will definitely be added to my homemade Christmas gift list.
