Red, White and Pink Tour: Girl’s Dress Review

By Libby Vasquez

It was a pleasure to join this hosted tour by Tibeca. I was unsure what to make for this tour but when Ellie and Mac had their wacky Wednesday sale I noticed a cute freebie, the Be Trendy Halter top. I decided this would be my pattern. I chose a four way stretch striped pink knit from my stash, most of it comes from downtown LA purchases for $1-3 a yard. This seemed the perfect pink and white for the tour fabric and color.
The pattern was easy to cut and the easiest pattern i have ever had to follow and sew. I was done in 90 minutes, with interruptions from my kiddos that they needed more water and to be carried a few minutes to sleep. I wish I would’ve tried doing a different pattern or color stretch band as when i first started putting them together it was confusing. You have to match up all four layers of materials, the front and back of the band and front and back of the bodice. As you can see in my picture below, although I tried really matching them up I was off by a tiny bit. It didn’t affect the look or feel at all though.
I love this top for Valentines as here in California it can get a bit warm even in February. I also wanted a top that wasn’t red, as it is not my color but could be rocking the Valentine day vibe and be worn later too. This halter top can be great for a casual or slightly dressed up look.
