As a mom we all love and hate board games. We like that our kids love them but then we get frustrated because it is hard to teach them to play a game, the rules may be for older kids, they lose parts, etc. However, I loved this game Let’s Feed the Very Hungry Let's Feed the Very Hungry Caterpillar by Briarchpatch as it was both simple but fun and educational and very little mess could be created with it.
This game can be played with two to four players. Each member gets a caterpillar of their own, four different colors. The board is simple yet colorful and of course reminiscent of the Hungry Caterpillar book. You get to move a number of spaces noted by number of fruit on your card. There is a skip your turn card with simple pictures for toddlers to understand. You move around the board trying to collect all four fruits, with each one resulting in also acquiring a puzzle piece. Once you get each fruit you will have all your puzzle pieces and completed butterfly puzzle. Once again this ties to the caterpillar turning into a beautiful butterfly quite cleverly.
You can have a quick yet engaging game with this board game for children that want to play a board game but can’t understand more complicated games and will not have you running for the hills. It is simple even for a 3 year old. The price is less than $10 currently on Amazon and I don’t forsee it going up. It is definitely a great buy and with few pieces you won’t have a catastrophe left behind when your little ones finish the game.
